What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness meditation involves paying attention in a particular way to one’s physical, emotional, and mental experiences moment by moment. There is scientific evidence supporting the benefits of mindfulness meditation to help manage stress and anxiety, improve memory and attention, boost the immune system, help regulate emotions, manage pain, and promote a general sense of well-being.

What to expect? This session is an opportunity to practice 45 minutes of guided mindfulness meditation in a group setting. This is not group therapy. Different meditations will be introduced each week. The last 15 minutes of the session will be dedicated to questions and discussion about the practice.

How should I dress? Wear loose fitting comfortable clothing, bring socks or shawl as the room may be cool.

What is the Cost? 15AED

Who can attend? Individuals who would like to learn and practice mindfulness meditation.

Meditation Etiquette

  • The aim is to start and finish on time. Please turn off your mobile.
  • When you arrive feel free to quietly enter the room and sit. Mats, cushions, chairs, will be laid out. Should you arrive late, enter quietly and join in the practice when you are ready. Should you need to leave the room, simply leave quietly.
  • The meditation room is small, please be mindful of others by refraining from wearing scents.

 Sharing

  • The last 15 minutes of the hour is reserved for questions and sharing of experiences, being mindful that we are not here to go over the past or the content of one’s difficulties. The aim is to cultivate awareness of the patterns of our mind and body in the present moment.
  • There may be times when I might invite us all to pause if I notice we are getting caught up in thought and invite you to come back to what is happening now.
  • I welcome you to share your experiences from your practices but rest assured that there is no obligation to share – tuning into what feels right for you. Listening is as much of an active part of being in a group as speaking.

Confidentiality – Do you know anyone in this group?

  • It is important that we create a safe place where we can share and learn from each other. It might be tempting to go home and share what is happening in the group with friends or family. I suggest that it is fine to talk about your own experience or the group in general terms but not to mention any names or speak of anyone else’s experience outside of the group.
  • If you are out and about and you happen to bump into someone from the group, be mindful that they may not want to be spoken to outside of the group especially if they are out with someone.
